● Yearbook – Yearbook gives students the opportunity to be an active member of a genuine six-figure business. Students gain a wide array of valuable skills, including teamwork, communication, interviewing, time management, organizational abilities, problem-solving capabilities and the ability to meet deadlines, along with technical skills like photography, design, and writing. Students produce the only book of record for the school year.

● Newspaper – Our newspaper program, Panther Prints, offers a variety of valuable skill-building opportunities. Students can significantly improve their writing, research, interviewing, and time management skills, while also developing teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities. Students produce four quarterly printed news magazines as well as online content for the website, www.peshprints.com.

● Journalism I – Journalism I introduces students to the fundamentals of journalism, including news writing, reporting, interviewing, and editing. Students learn about media law, ethics, and the history of journalism while developing skills in various forms of journalistic writing, such as features, editorials, sports reporting, and broadcast scripts. Successful students of this course find that the specific concise style of writing translates to better writing abilities in all disciplines.

● Photojournalism – Photojournalism class teaches students to combine photography with journalistic writing to tell stories visually. Students will learn the basics about digital camera operation, lighting, composition, and photo editing, as well as how to write photo captions, bios, and convey news stories via the photographic medium.

● Independent Study / Journalism – This course offers the serious student of journalism the opportunity to conduct research, produce original work in print or some other media, develop an advanced skill, and study a specific area of interest.
